The firm takes its community responsibilities very seriously and dedicates a large portion of its resources advocating to protect local communities in and around New York City. This work has involved litigating against the construction of power plants on New York’s East River waterfront in order to protect the air quality and environmental justice of North Brooklyn. Adam Perlmutter also represented the Williamsburg 7, a group of non-violent civil disobedient activists protesting Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s decision to shutter firehouses throughout New York City. The firm also serves as counsel to the Greenpoint Waterfront Association for Parks & Planning one of New York’s premire urban environmental groups advocating for open space and coastal managment along the East River. It also works with the Trust for Public Land to protect community gardens through New York City.
